Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ITDRC, our mission, and how you can get involved.

How does ITDRC decide where to deploy? +

ITDRC monitors disasters continuously and evaluates deployment based on the scale of the event, connectivity needs of affected communities, requests from partner organizations (including FEMA and state emergency management), and our current resource availability.

Is ITDRC a government agency? +

No. ITDRC is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We work closely with government agencies — including FEMA, DHS, and state emergency management — but we are not part of any government entity.

How can my organization request ITDRC support? +

Emergency management agencies and nonprofits can request support by calling our 24-hour activation line at 1-866-217-5777, or by emailing support@itdrc.org.

Can individuals volunteer? +

Yes — individuals with technology backgrounds are encouraged to register as volunteers. We need field technicians, remote support specialists, logistics coordinators, and more. Visit our Volunteering page to get started.

How is my donation used? +

Donations fund equipment acquisition and maintenance, volunteer training and certification, operational costs during deployments, and the staff and systems that keep ITDRC ready to respond 24/7.

Does ITDRC operate internationally? +

Yes. While most of our work is domestic, ITDRC has deployed internationally and maintains relationships with international disaster response organizations.

How can my company become a corporate partner? +

We welcome partnerships with technology companies, telecommunications providers, and other organizations. Contact us at partners@itdrc.org or visit our Corporate Partners page.
